The Story of Battlestar Galactica

The new Battlestar Galactica DVD is a fabulously re-imagined and modernized version of the old television series from the the late 1970s and early 1980s. Like the original, it follows the journey of the last surviving humans from the Twelve Colonies of Kobol, after their catastrophic near destruction by the Cylons.

The citizens of the twelve colonies of Kobol were much like modern day humans. They lived civilized lives n the comfort of advanced technology. Eventually, they were able to make robots with advanced artificial intelligence to do the hard, menial, and dangerous jobs for them. Unfortunately the AI was just a bit too advanced, and the synthetic humans, known as Cylons, began to take offense to the treatment they received at the hands of their human creators.

Eventually the Cylons and humans went to war with each other. The Cylons were beaten back and retreated into the unknown reaches of space while the humans went on with their lives in the twelve colonies. Fourty years later, the Cylons unexpectedly returned and wreaked bloody vengeance, nearly exterminating the human population and taking Kobol as their own.

The last remaining humans band together aboard a small fleet of space ships and seek salvation in the legend of the lost colony "Earth". On their journey to find this lost colony, the plot takes many twists and turns and has several fantastic side-plots to keep things interesting. The humans find Cylons aboard their ships, and some of those Cylons had truly thought themselves human.

As the tides turn and civil war threatens among both the humans and the Cylons, old enmities fade and new ones grow. The Battlestar Galactica DVD is a fantastic watch for anyone who enjoys a good action/adventure show, and especially if they are fans of science fiction.
