Seven Pounds DVD Now Available

Seven Pounds DVD brings this interesting new Will Smith movie to the home front. In a take-off derived from Shakespeare’s “Merchant of Venice”, and the “pound of flesh” recompense, Will’s character Tim Thomas decides he has a debt that is ruthlessly required to be paid back, not to one person, but to the seven he feels responsible for killing in an auto accident.

He sets his plan in action using his brother’s name and IRS identity, and over the time of a couple years, slowly donates his “pound of flesh” per person, staring with a lung donation to the brother Ben, whose identity Tim has borrowed. Next, a kidney donation, part of a liver, bone marrow, and his house to a victim of abuse. The final donations are to a blind man and a woman with whom Tim has fallen in love.

In an effort to donate his final of seven “pounds of flesh”, and to try to make up for the death of his fiancée in the original accident, he commits suicide with the help of a pet jelly fish and a tub filled with ice water. Seven Pounds DVD is an interesting study in guilt, love, and circumstance.
